Deserts as art

Australian Deserts (previous post) is full of magnificient aerial photos of our dry lands. I can’t take such pictures myself but I spent quite a bit of time on Google Maps’ satellite views while I was planning and then documenting our White Mountains trip, and realised that they, too, are aerial views of a kind.

They reminded of some abstract art I have seen, which led to some not-too-serious but satisfying digital experimentation. Here are some of the results … not quite art, not really photos, not entirely mine, but somewhere in that zone. If they say anything it is that nature’s patterns recur at all sorts of scales.
