Lemon Migrant

Lemon Migrant, Catopsilia pomona, feeding on pentas

I have mentioned Migrants several times recently and I thought it was about time to post a photo of one. This is a male; females are still basically yellow but are a bit more colourful. There are two seasonal forms (or colorations) and this is the “dark form” or wet-season form. Strangely, “dark form” and “light form” are defined by the colour of the antennae, black or pink respectively, not the colour of the wings, although it happens that the light form male is in fact paler overall than the dark form.
