Town Common after the floods

The Town Common wetlands still have a fair bit of open water, two months after our big floods, but it is back to normal levels for this time of year – if there is such a thing as “normal” in our wildly variable climate, that is.

We didn’t see many birds in our brief visit to Tegoora Rock but did see a couple of Bustards from the lookout. I will include one of my telephoto shots just because it will be the first Bustard (Ardeotis australis) on Green Path. They are widespread, as ¬†Wikipedia says, but not particularly common and tend to stay well away from people in open grasslands.
